Getting to the Moon: Artemis II Mission

29 Jan 2025
W331A
SpaceCom | Space Congress: Space Exploration

The Artemis II flight test builds on the success of the uncrewed Artemis I in 2022. It will be NASA’s first mission with crew under the Artemis Program and will pave the way to land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon on Artemis III. Four astronauts on their first flight aboard NASA’s Orion spacecraft will venture around the Moon and confirm all the spacecraft’s systems operate as designed with crew aboard in the actual environment of deep space.  Under Artemis, NASA and its partners will return humans to the Moon for long-term exploration and scientific discovery, gaining the knowledge needed for future missions to worlds beyond, including Mars.

Hear the Artemis II Mission Objectives and each NASA and industry partner’s respective role in achieving them (SLS, Orion, Ground and Launch Integration/Operations, etc.) as part of this exciting and timely topic.
