Mark Lester
Mark Lester is a respected authority in aerospace and defense with over 30 years of leadership spanning the public and private sectors and specializes in spaceport development and operations. He is recognized nationally for his expertise in space launch, regulatory governance, satellite operations, missile defense, aviation training, and aerospace manufacturing. As Head of Aerospace Strategy at Merrick & Company, a global engineering, design, and architecture firm, Mark guides growth, high-impact pursuits, and alignment of the firm’s capabilities with emerging mission priorities and precise delivery of mission critical projects. A pioneer in commercial spaceport operations, he led the FAA-licensed Pacific Spaceport Complex-Alaska to commercialized revenue independence and later advanced global launch operations for a commercial space launch provider. His career began as a U.S. Air Force officer, where he led space operations and intelligence analysis in support of national security. Mark holds engineering and space operations degrees and is conducting doctoral research on spaceport management and operations at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
