Ron Lopez

President
Astroscale U.S.
United States

Ron’s journey with Astroscale U.S. began in April 2019 when he assumed the role of chief executive, spearheading the growth of the on-orbit servicing industry in the U.S. From the ground up, he established Astroscale’s independent, wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, transforming it into a robust organization with double-digit millions in revenue within five years. He oversees all business operations of the Foreign Ownership Control and Influence (FOCI)-mitigated entity, with responsibilities spanning the global GEO satellite servicing market and delivery of classified and unclassified on-orbit services to the U.S. Space Force and other government customers.

With 30+ years of experience in government and industry, Ron’s expertise includes systems engineering, program management, tech development/R&D management, business development, strategy, international operations, and P&L management. He began his military career as an Intelligence Officer after earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1993, with his active duty service culminating as the lead for future systems at Air Force Space Command’s Space Control Division.
In the private sector, Ron began at Boeing, managing programs as a Systems Engineering Manager within Phantom Works, eventually leading business development activities for the Network & Space Systems division across Asia Pac. At Honeywell Aerospace, he led the Defense Asia Pacific sales team, driving significant growth and market expansion. With over two decades of international business experience—including two decades living in Japan—Ron plays a key role in Astroscale’s global management, collaborating with counterparts in the U.K., France, Japan, and Israel on strategic and operational challenges.

A seasoned servant leader, Ron leads through mutual respect and example. He has cultivated a culture of innovation and inclusion at Astroscale U.S., balancing customer-focused results with employee development and well-being. Building on four decades of distinguished leadership, he actively mentors emerging executives and supports high-tech companies in scaling for success.

Ron was appointed to the U.S. National Space Council’s Users’ Advisory Group by the Office of the Vice President in 2022, followed by his appointment to the Aerospace Industries Association’s (AIA) Executive Committee in 2023. He is a strong advocate for strengthening the U.S. space industrial base and international cooperation, participating in the U.S.-Japan Space Forum and Denver Council on Foreign Relations, representing Denver’s space sector in the Denver-Munich City2City Economic Partnership, and serving as Chair of the Board for the Bavarian Guild of Colorado and Wyoming. He also serves on the Texas Space Coalition’s Board of Advisors, advises the Strategic AI program at UCCS, sits on ACSL Inc.’s Advisory Board, and serves on the Astroscale U.S. Board and chairs the Astroscale Israel Board of Directors.

Throughout his career, Ron has exemplified leadership, innovation, and strategic growth—leaving a lasting impact on every organization he’s served.
