 Samantha Thorstensen is the Next Generation STEM (NGS) ISS Lead for NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement, where she drives strategic initiatives that leverage the International Space Station (ISS) to inspire and prepare the workforce of the future across diverse STEM audiences. In this role, Samantha fosters strategic collaborations and works closely with commercial partners to expand access to space-based research and educational opportunities, ensuring alignment with NASA’s mission and the evolving space economy. Previously, Samantha served as Director of Education at the ISS National Lab (CASIS), NASA Education Specialist, and Director of STEAM for the Florida Afterschool Network. She also brings extensive experience from fourteen years in education, building a strong foundation in learning innovation and program development. Throughout her career, Samantha has championed space science engagement, inquiry-driven learning models, and innovative STEM programming, with a focus on creating authentic experiences that equip learners and organizations with the skills and mindset needed for tomorrow’s space-driven workforce.
