Scott McLaughlin
Scott A. McLaughlin is an accomplished executive and engineer with a broad background spanning private industry and public service. Throughout his career, he has held roles ranging from technician and production manager to researcher, design engineer, sales lead, and senior executive—giving him a unique ability to lead with insight into every level of technical development and operational execution.
A native of New Mexico, Mr. McLaughlin earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University. He went on to co-found a radar design and manufacturing company in Colorado, where he served as a principal and led the development of advanced systems for space launch, aviation, atmospheric monitoring, and range operations around the world. After the company was acquired, he returned to New Mexico to further his commitment to the aerospace sector.
Mr. McLaughlin joined Spaceport America in 2019 and was named Executive Director in 2021. Under his leadership, the spaceport has expanded its national role as a hub for spaceflight, suborbital research, and commercial aerospace innovation.
