Artem “Tim” Agoulnik retired from the United States Space Force as a Space Operations Officer serving as the Division Chief, Current Operations for Space Systems Command. He began his military career in 2005 as an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps (USMC), and conducted an Inter-Service Transfer to the USSF in 2022. Prior to that, he worked for 2 years at the American Foreign Policy Council, as a program associate in the Eurasia and Russia programs researching and publishing policy on US foreign policy.

Tim has held various leadership and management positions requiring executive leadership, strategic planning, project management, and financial accountability. As a USMC Foreign Area Officer, he worked with national and international intelligence and security agencies in over 15 countries. 

Prior to joining the USSF, Tim deployed six times (including four combat deployments to Iraq), last serving as the Deputy Commander for Special Operations Task Force – Syria.

Tim holds two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst in political science and economics, and two Graduate Degrees. He attended Georgetown University School of Foreign Service’s Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies and the Naval Postgraduate School, receiving an MBA in Finance. Tim has published in The Washington Post, National Review, The National Interest, and The Wall Street Journal, and is fluent in Russian, German and French.
